Super Animal Royale is a free-to-play online battle royale game with spunk! Players control a cute, sweet, murderous animal of their choice to fight for the win. Sixty-four contenders enter each match, which can be joined solo or as a team of up to four players. There are a handful of maps, all of which are viewed top-down and two-dimensionally. Characters, weapon options, skins (called Stripes), and more can be unlocked through gameplay or through the in-game store. Your super adorable fighter might use a pool noodle, a mop, a sub-machine gun, anything really. The options include melee and ranged “weapons”.

Mix and match your Super Animal’s breed, Stripes, weapon, and clothes. Then head into battle in your choice of Game Modes, which include ongoing options and limited-time modes.

I caution you not to let the silly and bright outer appearance to soften your opinion of this frenetic game. Nay, it’s super serious business. And you’ll be the one looking ludicrous when you let your guard down.

This game is available on PC and Mac through Steam, XBOX One and Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch. Cross-platform play can be enabled, and you can create a Super Animal Royale Account to sync play across different consoles. You can even join a party cross-platform!

DLC

Super Animal Royale Super Edition DLC – $14.99 – Unlocks some in-game currency, animal breeds, cosmetic items, and more.

Season Starter Pack – $4.99 – Rotates with the in-game Season. Unlocks a Season-specific set of animal breeds and cosmetic items.

XBOX Online Play

Xbox players do not need XBOX GamePass to play Super Animal Royale online! Those who do have GamePass will be able to unlock the current Season’s XBOX Perks Pack.

PlayStation Online Play

PlayStation Plus subscription is no longer needed for online play! Players who do have PlayStation Plus will be able to unlock the current Season’s PlayStation Perks Pack. This was announced via X (formerly Twitter) in December of 2021.

Nintendo Switch Online Play

Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to play Super Animal Royale on Switch. No Seasonal Perks Pack seems to be available for Nintendo Switch users. (But remember, you can link the same account across different platforms to keep your perks and cosmetics synced!)
